Oblum Electrical Industries Private Limited was started in year 1970 by Mr. O.Balagangadhar, a first generation technocrat. Oblum pioneered the manufacture of surge arrestors in India and was the first company to manufacture Metal Oxide Discs and Gapless Surge Arrestors with indigenous technology.

One of the largest and most reputed manufacturers of polymer surge arresters (3kV up to 800kV systems) with more than 50 years of presence in the Indian as well as International Market Integrated manufacturing unit with best-in-class manufacturing facilities for polymer surge arresters in the country, which includes in-house manufacturing of ZnO Blocks (the most important part of the arrester) from the raw material stage, moulding along with complete test facilities to carry out the routine and acceptance tests in accordance with IEC 60099-4 : 2014. Manufacturing range includes Tube, Cage and Wrap Design of polymer surge arresters. Cage design is highly superior as it offers excellent mechanical strength as well as short circuit performance. Oblum is amongst the few manufacturers of cage design arresters globally. Supplied 850kV polymer surge arresters for 1200kV system to PGCIL Test Station, Bina. Supplied Transmission Line Arresters up to 420kV voltage rating to PGCIL, KSEB, Tata Power and Bhutan Power Corporation.
